Clinical Physician Order Entry (CPOE)

The objective of the CPOE solution is to enable Clinicians to interact with the system directly for entering and looking up clinical information in a seamless manner. The Clinician enters only the MRD number and templates are generated based on specialties and departments. These templates are customizable by the department and specialties and they reduce the data entry and only present and capture the necessary information to the clinician instead of cluttering his desktop. The system today provides over 2000 templates. For e.g., if a patient meets a gastroentrologist then the system will automatically present a template which focuses on digestives and liver disorders.

Work Flow

The coordination and communication among various activities of the business process is crucial for a health care system, apart from managing the flow of work. The management of business flow, coordination and communication has been done using the HIS workflow-based system. Workflow engine also provides Event Listeners that can automatically respond to domain interface events. The interface responds to various user-configurable events, which initiate an action, translate and modify the event or kill the event. Workflow interface supports orchestration of horizontal and vertical management of logic. The event-messaging architecture can be used effectively by the domain services to create, manage and monitor customized workflows in a cost-effective, graceful manner.

Central Data Warehousing

Central data warehouse, which collects and aggregates all the data from various hospitals and subsystem, is a part of the system. This will allow for comprehensive monitoring and preventive healthcare to be provided. Business Intelligence module, which allows for slice and dice of the data, is also available. Over 900 standard reports are available within the system. The BI module also allows for ad-hoc reporting in a non-programmatic manner.

Inventory Management

Inventory Management is a key to run any organization effectively since both, excess or low inventory could hurt the organization. The HIS Inventory Management module provides comprehensive inventory management designed to optimize inventory investment using established and proven methodologies like Reorder Calculation, Dead Stock Identification and Weighted Average Cost. The highlight of HIS Inventory Management is the special care given to drug inventory developed with the vast domain expertise in running the huge drug inventory of hospitals. The Inventory Management module is backed by hundreds of comprehensive and analytical inventory reports from HIS reporting and OLAP framework. The module has simplified user interfaces that make it easy for busy staff to get up to speed without investing a lot of time in training.

The HIS Inventory Management module is built around the innovative concept of main stores and sub stores. Main store manages the indents given to them by the sub stores and generates the purchase requisition to the purchase department. Indents are raised by the sub stores when they feel the need to replenish the stock, upon which main store either issues some existing stock against the indents raised, or would create a PRQ (Purchase Requisition) for the Purchase Order (PO) department. PO department consolidates the PRQ requests and raise a PO for the appropriate vendor with all the details after negotiating with them, if needed. The CRU (Central Receiving Unit) performs the function of receiving goods (which also involves generation of GRN - Goods Receipt Note).

Pharmacy Management

A completely integrated pharmacy module is available, which reduces errors and provides for easy management of the pharmacy. The system also ensures that First Expiry drugs are available for dispensing. The system also automatically suggests alternative drugs if the drugs suggested by the physician is not available. This helps reduce turn around time, expired drugs are reduced as the current dug stock is available to the doctor during dispensation, and also eliminates errors on dispensing as the doctors' orders are captured directly by the doctors and not transcribed.
